RECIPE GYROS

Recipe for the real Greek Gyros.

Meat dishes from Greece for 2 persons

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 pnd lamb, in strips
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 cup cucumber, seeded and cubed
  • 1/4 cup low fat yoghurt
  • 1 tbsp mint, chopped
  • 2 pitas
  • 1/2 cup lettuce shredded
  • 1/2 cup tomato, seeded, skinned, cubed

Preparation

Saute onion and garlic in 1 tbsp oil until softened. Combine lamb, lemon, oregano, cumin and mix well. Form this into 'burgers' and grill to your liking.

Mix cucumber, yoghurt, mint in a small bowl. Open pitas and fill them with the lettuce, tomato and meat. Drizzle with sauce and if you like add some hotsauce.

Serve!
